There is a tremendous risk associated with not removing Vena Cava Filters from patients who are no longer in need of DVT/PE protection. The longer Vena Cava Filters are left in place there is an increased risk of negative outcomes such as filter fracture, filter migration, and vena cava occlusion. Many patients who receive retrievable Vena Cava Filters are lost to patient follow up and it is estimated that only 25% of retrievable filters are actually removed, ultimately posing unnecessary health risks to these patients. Therefore, the Angel™ Catheter is intended to be used as a temporary Vena Cava Filter for patients at high risk of DVT/PE and can be safely removed once that risk subsides.
